Crews Work Together To Rescue Deer On Frozen River

Info from Licensor: "Wild Rescue! We are so grateful to the DC community who rallied to alert our Animal Control Dispatch to a deer in trouble, and the first responders who rose to the occasion to help. This morning, we received multiple calls about a deer stranded on the icy Potomac River near the Key Bridge. Our COO Aaron Johnson responded to assess the situation and contacted emergency officials for help. Thankfully, quick action and teamwork with the Washington Metropolitan Police Dept.'s Harbor Patrol and DC Fire And EMS’s Fireboat crew ensured a happy ending. With cold temperatures and icy conditions making the rescue tricky, this dedicated team of heroes worked together to safely bring the deer to solid ground, where it got its footing and ran off. This coordinated effort showcases the incredible commitment of our first responders—not just to people but to all living creatures in our community. We’re happy to report the deer is now safe and back where it belongs. A huge thank you to everyone involved for their compassion and courage! Credit: Brandywine Valley SPCA"
