Monday, September 21, around 10:30 pm CST, the fires started, and once they began to grow, people could see the huge flames all the way from DFW airport as they landed, according to one passerby.
After about 5 minutes I found the closest point I could be at due to the streets not being closed off when I pulled up because no police presence. I was in front of the Dallas Love Field Inn and the fires were so bright and so hot that residents began to come out and discuss potential evacuation as they called family and friends to ease their nerves. Transformers and gas cans were blowing and popping inside the flamed area.
After about 11:20 pm, the motel lost its power until about 1:50 am, reportedly.
After further review, I came to learn that the tire shop's owner had many pallets inside which were apparently the culprit of the fire at the hands of the home-seeking folks who made that their residence. The fires were eventually quelled."
