Occurred on March 5, 2018 / Del Mar, California, USA
Info from Licensor: "I was on my way home from my End Of Tour Navy ceremony at a Naval Base in Coronado, California. I noticed a truck stalled in the fast lane of the freeway, so I pulled over right in front of him to provide assistance. I grabbed my fire extinguisher and tried to contain the fire then noticed the fire was coming from the fuel tank area. The smoke started out as white and then turned black, knowing from my Navy training that it indicates oil or flammable fluid. The freeway traffic on the I-5 northbound was still trying to drive around the burning pick up, so I went back to my truck and grabbed my traffic emergency triangles and redirected the traffic all the way to the far right slow lane. CHP and Fire dept soon showed up and contained the fire and controlled the freeway traffic."
