Info from Licensor: I’m a horse trainer. My 3yo ESA German Shepherd was with me when I went to do chores and these youngster horses were very curious of her. She’s the biggest dog they’ve seen. We were sitting on a 4-wheeler when they approached, so we remained there. When the horses started getting too “mouthy” with the dog’s ear, I lazily wave my hand at them so they don’t hurt/fully bite her. This did not scare them, as you can see they come right back, but are more respectful. It was a good interaction because Gladys (dog) has been chased and kicked by several horses, so having a good experience was good for her comfort around them, and visa versa—the horses now have good experience with a large dog and will likely not see her as danger in the future.
