Info from Licensor: My husband and I are in the process of remodeling our bathroom. The previous day, the contractor had torn out the old drywall and was coming this morning to hang new drywall, which took a few hours. All 3 of my cats are scared of strangers so it's not unusual for them to stay hidden for hours and only emerge once people are gone. Once the contractor was done, he left for the day and I decided to take a shower. While I was in there, the cat, Cheddar, decided to re-emerge only to discover his super-secret hiding spot had been sealed shut and he started meowing furiously. Once I figured out that the cat is in the wall. we decided to just cut a small hole. My husband cuts the hole, I stick my hand blindly into a dark, creepy, cobwebs filled space in the wall and hear the cat jostling around in the wall trying to get to the hole. He finally gets to my hand, I grab him to come out and he resists. So I pulled my arm out and he poked his face out of the wall, looked around and decided he was fine where he was and pulled himself back in. We had to finally cut the hole slightly bigger so I could pull him out. He is, of course, fine, just covered in dust and cobwebs.
